DIY Fall Skin Care

DIY scrub in glass jar

As the season changes so does our skin. Cooler weather leads to dry, itchy skin that craves a good moisturising and exfoliating. Below are a few yummy smelling, fall-themed recipes that are sure to leave you feeling refreshed. The best part? You probably have most of the ingredients on hand already. 

Pumpkin Spice Body Scrub  
As with all of these, the amount needed is going to depend on the size of jar you're using. I like to use a small Mason jar when making scrubs. Glass jars are reusable and keep well in the shower.

Ingredients
  1. coconut oil
  2. brown sugar
  3. pumpkin spice
  4. vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Fill half of your container with coconut oil. You'll want to heat the oil to room temperature so it'll be in liquid form. (Do not overheat. Hot oil will melt your sugar.)
  2. Pour in brown sugar until your container is full. Carefully mix brown sugar and coconut oil, making sure to not over stir.
  3. Add in a few drops of vanilla extract.
  4. Sprinkle pumpkin spice over the scrub. I usually don't add too much to avoid skin irritation.
  5. Gently stir until the vanilla and pumpkin spice are fully mixed in.
  6. And you're done! Put the lid on and keep in the shower for daily use.
Notes
  1. The coconut oil will make your shower floor slippery. Warn anyone who uses the shower after you. I learned the hard way!

Vanilla Lip Scrub

Ingredients
  1. Coconut oil
  2. Almond oil (optional)
  3. Honey
  4. Vanilla extract
  5. White granulated sugar
Instructions
  1. Fill your container about halfway with room temperature oils and honey. Too much honey will make your scrub a bit sticky, so go light.
  2. Add a couple drops of vanilla extract.
  3. Slowly mix in sugar until fully blended.
Notes
  1. For better exfoliation, use more sugar and less oil.

Pumpkin Face Mask

Ingredients
  1. Canned pumpkin
  2. Unflavored almond milk
  3. Raw honey
  4. Coconut oil
Instructions
  1. Pour half a cup of pumpkin into a bowl
  2. Add 2 TBS of almond milk
  3. Add 1 TBS coconut oil
  4. Add 2 TBS raw honey
  5. Stir mixture together until fully blended.
  6. Apply over your face and neck, leave on for 5 to 10 minutes.
  7. Rinse and enjoy you're refreshed skin!
