We’ve partnered with our friends at Blond Genius to bring you fun, stylish, and mom-friendly fashion tips. The Bloomington Moms Blog team is stepping out to let Blond Genius owner, Katie Whitson, and her team of style experts show us how easy and flexible fashion can be for everyday moms. What should I wear today?
I want to look put together, but not like I’m trying too hard. I want to be comfortable, but not like I’m coming straight from the gym. Wait, what’s the weather forecast for today?
This may be the constant morning dilemma you face each and every day. It takes up way too much time, and let’s be honest, time is scarce for most of us.
Go back to the basics.
While the basics are sometimes boring and probably the last thing you want to purchase while shopping, I am here to tell you that you can’t go wrong with the perfect white t-shirt. The perfect white tee is a classic staple that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially for busy moms and women in general!
Bloomington Moms Blog contributor, toddler mom, and model for the day, Anna R., let our Blond Genius team pamper her with a fun styling session focused on our favorite – the white tee! We styled Anna’s white tee in four different ways, showing her how to wear it, what to wear it with, and why it’s a must have in any mom’s closet.
Keep it simple.
We paired the Current/Elliott Muscle Tee (Yes, it’s a tank!) with plenty of wardrobe pieces to demonstrate its versatility – you can wear this white tee with practically everything, so there is no need to ask, “What do I wear it with?” You really can’t go wrong! With the perfect white tee it’s so easy to throw on your outfit, stay comfortable, feel amazing, and not think twice about whether or not you look put together. It’s a game changer when you feel good in what you’re wearing.
With each of Anna’s looks, we kept things simple, because we love simple and basic. Yep, that’s right – simple and basic are stylish and cool!
Look 1: Everyday
Running around town all day, tackling errands, and chauffeuring kids? We paired Anna’s white tee with denim, slip-on sneakers, and some simple accessories. This is an everyday, no-brainer look! This white tee is tailored so it fits a woman’s body and pulls in all the right places without being conforming or too tight.
We love how it fits under the arms, which makes it super bra-friendly and you don’t have to worry about showing extra skin. The hem line is slightly distressed, which gives it a cool edge and allows the top to look finished while untucked.
Look 2: Yoga Worthy
Leaving the gym, but need to feel a bit more pulled together? Or, maybe you just want to be comfortable! The length of this white tee is ideal for leggings too, so pull out your favorite yoga pants or active wear leggings, and feel confident that from the front and back, you’re covered!
We styled Anna’s white tee with black leggings and a denim jacket (another wardrobe staple). It’s a quick fix that’s a bit edgy!
Look 3: Date Night
Heading out on the town for a date night? We paired Anna’s white tee with dark skinny jeans, cute booties, and a cashmere cardigan. Comfy, but chic!
If you want to look a bit more finished or if you want to show more of a waistline, go for the sloppy tuck! You simply tuck in half of the front section of the tee. It doesn’t need to be even! Tuck just enough so it looks purposeful. The weight of this tee makes it easy to tuck in without feeling bulky.
Look 4: Lunch with the Girls
While lunch with the girls might be a luxury during the mothering days, it can happen, right? A white tee can still be your go-to piece for an easy, yet somewhat dressy outfit. We tucked Anna’s white tee into a cute skirt, and threw on (again) a denim jacket and pair of slides. She’s comfortable, but well dressed!
This is also a great look for family get togethers, baby showers, and children’s birthday parties. Don’t forget this option for a business casual, wear-to-work look.
Anna’s Favorite Look
Anna’s favorite was the everyday look. “As a stay-at-home mom, I need to be comfortable enough to chase my active toddler, but I also want to hold onto that pre-baby, put together feeling,” said Anna.
The high waist jeans fit Anna’s figure perfectly, and it was so easy for her to move around without feeling like she was showing too much or wearing mom jeans. “I don’t typically splurge on clothing, but the jeans are completely worth it,” Anna explains. We recommend investing in your favorite, most worn clothing items, like jeans.
The black slip-on sneakers were comfy yet stylish. “I can easily dress them up with a black cardigan or run errands like a boss in just the white tee or the hooded sweatshirt and jean jacket,” Anna shares.
