Here at Bloomington Moms Blog, we are passionate about keeping moms in the know and supporting local businesses! We understand the importance of getting a head start on summer planning for your family and want to help ease the stress of planning out childcare while school is out for the summer.

With that in mind, now is a great time to start thinking about what your family’s summer will look like. It’s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner, and it’s important to begin thinking about if you want to send your kids to camp, as well as what types of camps are offered in Bloomington and the surrounding area.

We are thrilled to present you with our 2018 Summer Camp Guide. There are so many engaging camp options for your children to explore that are enriching, cultivating, and, what summer is all about, FUN! We feel that they will truly gain from their experience with any of the camps listed and hope you find this guide helpful as you dive into summer planning this spring!

Chris Lemonis Indiana Baseball Camp

Indiana Baseball Coach Chris Lemonis is excited to welcome you to one of his Summer Camps! This summer, there are multiple options for kids ages 5-15.

  • For kids ages 5-7, there will be sessions of the Lil Hoosier Camp in both June and July. The Lil Hoosier Camps will run from 9:00am – 12:00pm, and offer a fun atmosphere for youngsters to learn the fundamentals of the sport.
  • Those same weeks, kids ages 8-13 can join us for a Day Camp, which runs from 9:00am – 4:00pm Fundamentals will be the focus, and players will once again have a rare opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the sport from Coach Lemonis and his talented staff.
  • Finally, from July 9-12 kids ages 9-15 can attend our Overnight Camp a full four days of instruction!

Bloomington 7th Day Adventist Church

This Summer, the Bloomington 7th Day Adventist Church will be hosting a Summer Day Camp called FLAG Camp. Kids between the ages of 6 and 12 will have Fun Learning About God (FLAG) June 18-22. This camp will run daily from 8:30am-4:30pm. Kids will participate in activities such as Bible, Nature, Crafts, Games, and Field Trips. Please click on our website to learn more.

Bradford Woods

Camp Riley has empowered children ages 8-18 with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses for 63 years by providing enriching, life-changing experiences in a traditional camping environment tailored to their individual needs. We serve youth with sickle cell anemia, cerebral palsy, craniofacial anomalies, hearing loss, muscular dystrophy, Spina Bifida, autism, intellectual disabilities, rare genetic disorders, Down syndrome, and many other various physical disabilities. Children can attend one of eight sessions offered during a nine-week span, with each session offering a staff-to-camper ratio appropriate to the campers’ needs. Camp Riley is in partnership with Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and funded by Riley Children’s Foundation. IU Health provides an on-site medical team with doctors, physicians, and pharmacists, including a 24/7 nursing team.

Girl’s Inc.

“Inspiring all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold”

Girls Inc. of Monroe County summer camp is an affordable, fun option for girls Kindergarten through 6th grade. These week-long camps focus on the Girls Inc. mission – inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Our summer camp is designed to empower girls by challenging them mentally, enhancing their physical ability, promoting creativity, and encouraging them to take risks. Summer camp includes weekly themed activities, swimming, and field trips!

Indiana University: Jacobs School of Music Dept. of Bands

73rd Annual IU Summer Music Clinic — June 17-23, 2018

Register now to be part of a truly remarkable on-campus musical experience for string, brass, woodwind, and percussion students currently in grades 8-12. With a primary focus on outstanding orchestra and band performances, the clinic offers students the opportunity to participate in jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, and electives in conducting, composition, jazz improvisation, music theory, and leadership. Students also attend classes led by the world-renowned IU Jacobs School of Music faculty! The cost of this musical experience is $740, which includes tuition, room, and board. Registration is due by May 25.

Indiana University: School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering

Engineering Tomorrow camp attendees will gain exposure in our modern take on engineering through real-world applications. Our students create systems that sense and react to their environments, and they integrate that technology into devices large and small. We invite students in grades 5–12 to participate in a cutting-edge camp experience that features a captivating campus, state-of-the-art building, modern labs, and innovative, forward thinking.

Our program focuses on the use of artificial intelligence and computing to gather, interpret, and use data for everything from smart devices and robotics to finance and medicine. Multiple track options provide content for varying levels of experience, and virtually all the work is hands-on in nature, giving students the opportunity to explore different avenues. There is a little something for everyone!

Rising Star Gymnastics

Rising Star Gymnastics camps are packed with gymnastics, team building games, trampolines, balance beams, bars, rings, bounce house & slide for our younger campers!  Perfect choice for your active preschooler, elementary age girls and boys, and those who want to work on tumbling skills! Stages Bloomington

Start your summer on stage! Be in a show! Two-week, all day theatre camps offered by Stages Bloomington! Camp Dates: June 4-15 and June 18-29. Grades 3rd, 4th and 5th-8th will find excitement every day with professional instruction in music, dance, acting, stage combat, and storytelling. For Teens entering 8th-12th or  plan to attend college in the fall, hone your acting technique for auditions or roles in performances of all kinds. Teens in this Actor’s Studio will work with experienced theatre professionals and focus on character analysis, scene and monologue preparation Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6-8:30pm, June 5-28. All camps will be held in Stages new space in Artisan Alley, 222 W. 2nd Street in Bloomington. Register early. Space is limited.

AsaBela WINGS Aerial Academy

Asabela Camps – Our focus is on LEARNING & FUN!

ART & CIRCUS Camp is a one-day or all-week experience designed to introduce campers to visual and aerial arts in a safe, noncompetitive environment (ages 5yrs and older). Campers will participate in several fine art activities including: Drawing, Collage, Painting and more! Circus skills: Aerial NINJA Course, Silks, Juggling, & Acrobatics. We inspire kids to discover their unique sense of creative expression helping them reach new potentials and set new goals.

Our founder and camp lead, Juliana Burrell, is a local Painter and K-12 Certified Art Teacher. She toured the country as a solo aerialist (featured in the official Olympic Circus in 1996) and is a Master Aerial Instructor with over 25 years of experience. Hoosier Heights Bloomington 

Come hang out at Hoosier Heights Bloomington this summer! HHB camps are a great option for kids ages 5-12 who are learning how to climb. Climbing is great for the development of pattern finding, problem-solving, and focus as well as a great activity for physical health! Camps start on May 29th and end August 3rd. They are Monday-Friday every week with the option of signing up for one, three, or five days.

One day: $75

Three days: $209

Five days: $319

Climbers on Hoosier Heights Rec. and Intermediate Climbing Teams get 10% off prices.
